Franschhoek Cap Classique Route’s week-long celebration

0

The Franschhoek Valley is preparing to sparkle as it gears up to host an extraordinary week of fabulous festivities from 1 to 7 September 2023, paying tribute to the effervescence of Cap Classique wines and coinciding with the beginning of spring and international Cap Classique day.

The valley’s Cap Classique Route encompasses 23 local producers, making it South Africa’s largest and most impressive showcase of exceptional sparkling wines, world-class hospitality and picturesque vineyard vistas.

Wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs from near and far are invited to experience the renowned abundance of Franschhoek, with interactive tastings, cellar tours and unique food and wine pairings. From sabrage demonstrations, to artisanal Cap Classique pairings, bubbly breakfasts and cellar-door specials, there’s much to pack into an itinerary, such as these examples:

  • Mini High Tea & Cap Classique tasting at Anthonij Rupert Wyne – two L’Ormarins Cap Classique wines with  two savoury and two sweet treats. Booking is essential, and if done between 1 and 7 September, a complimentary tasting of L’Ormarins Private Cuvèe 2015 is included.
  • Cap Classique Master tasting at Haute Cabriere on 1 September includes lunch (limited tickets).
  • Cap Classique Experience at Wilderberg, R300pp includes a glass of bubbly, tapas and art exhibition by Hennie van Loggerenberg.

With no shortage of accommodation to suit all budgets and personal preferences, visitors are encouraged to prolong the spoils with a mid-week or weekend stay. Route map, more information and a full list of participating farms and experiences are available here.
