Radisson RED launches urban massage area that offers guilt-free mid-afternoon rub-downs

THERE’S something quite irresistible about a rooftop, especially one in a setting like the V&A Waterfront, with a view of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and Devil’s Peak. This is where Radisson RED Hotel has launched Chilli Bang Bang, an urban massage area offering quick mid-afternoon rub-downs for those feeling somewhat frazzled from tirelessly navigating the 9 to 5 rat race.

The funky and often irreverent hotel has collaborated with its neighbour, unisex grooming salon Glasshouse Rejuvenation, to conceptualise a six-item massage menu that focuses on leaving patrons feeling super chilled and ready to continue facing their day. Not only do you get to sneak off for a little afternoon delight but until the end of May, you can do it in this stunning environment (see below). From next month, the service moves indoors so take advantage of the wonderful autumn weather for an open-air experience like no other.

Chilli Bang Bang is open Tuesdays to Saturdays between 9am and 6pm. Massages can be booked for either 30,  45 or 60 minutes, from a neck rub all the way to a full body massage, single or with a friend/partner/lover/brother/mother etc, you get the idea. Prices range from R300 for a 30-minute quickie to R850 for a couple’s Ultimate CBB.

First you go in here (see below) and do what the sign says.

Then you lie down and get this (see below). Under the hole where you put your face, they have cell phones which can play movies or videos if you are so inclined. Relax and let the fresh air flow over your skin like the therapist’s fingers. Notice there is bubbly in the background. This is very important.

Those wanting to have their minds blown (just the mind though because RED ain’t that kinda place…) can hit up Baxter on 087 086 1578.

After our massages, we went downstairs to Oui Bar & KTCHN for a gin blending experience, where we were let loose with a range of infused gins to mix up our own bottle to take home. We rounded out our cunning midweek break from routine with lunch; all in all a very satisfying result.
