BABY Grand Burlesque Festival is an annual showcase of South Africa’s best of the best burlesque dancers. This year’s event takes place at GrandWest’s Roxy Revue Bar on Saturday, 2nd December 2023. International and South African professional burlesque artistes will take to the stage to vie for the title of Queen and show you all that the world of burlesque has to offer.
Baby Grand Burlesque Festival offers a premier burlesque experience, one which honours this art form for its timeless elegance and historical significance. The performers hope to enrapture you with all the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era while inviting you to experience a remarkable display of contemporary sensuality, sexuality, and empowerment. Artistes from South Africa and abroad apply for the opportunity to perform at Baby Grand to benefit their professional repertoires and represent, authentically, this art-form as one worthy of exceptional celebration.
The Debutante Ball, from 2.30pm will showcase artistes battling it out for the title of Best Debut. This category is for up-and-coming performers looking to cement themselves as forces in the burlesque and entertainment scene. With renewed energy and vibrancy, this event will no doubt catapult the competitors into stardom.
The Battle Royale, from 6.30pm, will showcase prestigious artistes competing for one of three titles – Miss Sheba Tease (favourite tease), Miss Hot Licks (favourite choreography) and Miss Glad Rags (favourite costume). This category is for seasoned professionals who are looking to join an elite group of burlesque legends who have perfected their craft.
