Discover a taste of France with the Café Fleur winter special

0

EMBARK on a culinary journey through the authentic flavours of France, with the new winter menu at Vergelegen wine estate’s Café Fleur. Even better, guests can enjoy a special offer of a complimentary dessert of their choice with every order of a starter plus main course. This winter special is available until Sunday 16 July.

Chef Michelle Barry, former principal of the Christina Martin School of Food and Wine, has worked closely with her team to pass on traditional French culinary skills. From delicate pastries to succulent meats and aged cheeses, every bite tells a story of French culinary mastery.

Wild mushroom ragoût in a puff pastry crust

Starters at Café Fleur, which opened its doors to acclaim in 2022, span classics such as onion soup, snails with garlic and Pernod, mussels in a creamy white wine sauce, and roasted beef marrow bones. Hearty, authentic mains include coq au vin, duck breast in a red wine and plum sauce, and pan-fried line fish with poached prawns.

Desserts include tarte tatin, brandy steamed pudding, chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and crepes Suzette.

Vergelegen treats vegetarians and vegans with dishes such as baked camembert served with red wine and fig relish, gorgonzola, fig and beetroot galette, Moroccan roasted butternut and puy lentil winter salad, and wild mushroom ragoût served with a light puff pastry crust.
