IN September 2023, one of South Africa’s most successful hospitality groups, Tashas Group, celebrated 18 years of beautiful food, stunning environments and engaging personal service. Founded in Johannesburg in 2005 by Natasha Sideris as a single store in Atholl, Sandton, tashas now has 15 locations in South Africa and six in the UAE – and will open its first store at Battersea Power Station in London in November 2023. While the tashas concept has been adapted to international markets each store retains the heart and soul of the tashas birthplace and foundation – South Africa.
“Our philosophy has always been about generosity and abundance,” explains Natasha, CEO and founder of the group. “Our passion for people and the belief that enjoyable eating is about more than just food has been at the heart of tashas since we opened our doors in Atholl 18 years ago.”

I am so grateful to everyone who has been a part of this journey,” says Savva Sideris, managing director for South Africa and partner. Savva joined his sister Natasha two years after the launch of the tashas brand and has never looked back. Like Natasha, he was inducted into the industry by default, having grown up in his father’s restaurants from a young age with a front row seat to all the lessons that the business has in store.
tashas has now become synonymous with a warm and laid-back approach, and for serving unpretentious, generous comfort food in stylish settings. Every tashas venue is unique in its own way, with its distinctive style inspired by a place or a time, reflected in both the menus and the design of each location.
“My father, Harry, was also a restaurateur gave me some valuable career advice that I still hold close,” says Natasha. “He told me that the restaurant business is one of repetition. You get up. You do it the best way you know how. The next day you do it all over again. Just as we have done, for the last 18 years.”
