Love is in the air at the Cellars-Hohenort 


LOVE is in the air at The Cellars-Hohenort, where a romantic Valentine’s picnic  will be available from Saturday the 11th to Tuesday the 14th of February. Romantics are invited to find a secluded spot on the spacious lawn where picnic blankets will be set up for the feast for two, while enjoying the spectacular backdrop of the award-winning gardens.

Executive chef Tronette Dippenaar has created the ultimate picnic basket,  brimming with a selection of delicious tapas, including feta stuffed peppadews, spicy marinated olives, watermelon, feta and basil skewers and traditional hummus. Other delicacies include mini pulled lamb sliders, beetroot and goats cheese salad, as well as freshly baked red pepper and sun dried tomato focaccia bread.  Couples are invited to celebrate their love, ending on a sweet note with triple chocolate brownies and chocolate dipped strawberries.

The cost of the Valentine’s Picnic Basket is R565 per person, with add-on menu items and sparkling wine available at additional charge. There are also children’s and baby options available, ideal for a family picnic on a summer’s evening.

Couples who prefer dressing up a little, may also book for a gourmet 6-course Valentine’s Dinner paired with some of South Africa’s best Cap Classiques from Klein Constantia, Constantia Uitsig, Steenberg and L’Ormarins, to be presented on Tuesday the 14th of February in the historical Hohenort dining venue. Highlights include pre-dinner Champagne cocktails, salted ocean cob, aged Chalmar beef, a cheese course and strawberry and white chocolate gateaux to finish off on a sweet note, promising a romantic occasion to remember. (R950 per person).
