THE elegant Eendracht Hotel and Apartments, a luxurious establishment in the heart of the oldest part of historic Stellenbosch, has opened a new restaurant. Daniel Lutz, owner of the hotel has named the new restaurant in honour of his mother, Senobia Lutz.

Opened on October 21, 202 at Daniel’s 50th birthday celebrations, Senobia’s serves breakfast and lunch every day to the public who, together with the resident guests, can enjoy good wholesome South African cooking. Its blackboard menus – inspired by many of Mrs Lutz’s own recipes that Daniel remembers well from his childhood – offer daily specials, seasonal food, and traditional South African dishes. A two-course lunch will cost you R95.  While it does not offer dinner, Senobia’s is within close walking distance of more than 60 excellent restaurants.

Meeting and conference attendees in the adjacent meeting room – The Huddle Room – can also enjoy lunch and breakfast at Senobia’s as part of its half or full day package.  The Huddle Room (pictured below) is suitable for up to eight people and, equipped with state of the art video conferencing facilities, high-speed internet access and all the other equipment, making it a perfect venue for today’s inevitable Zoom/team/business meetings and private functions. Family gatherings (of up to 14 people) with distanced family can be enjoyed via the video conferencing facilities.  A bonus is that Eendracht is off the grid, with solar panels and invertors, so load shedding interruptions are a thing of the past.

Senobia’s also offers a selection of refreshing drinks, snacks, Bootlegger coffee and organic teas; sundowners can be enjoyed at the beautiful garden patio that has an outdoor splash pool.

The Eendracht enjoys a rich history. The building dates back to the very beginnings of Stellenbosch when Governor van der Stel first explored the Eerste River Valley, and the original building – a small two-roomed cottage – was built in 1710. By the 1960s that cottage had been changed, modified, and significantly rebuilt; the Eendracht Hotel and Apartments as it is now, was built and founded by Daniel Lutz in 1996.

The hotel consists of 13 en-suite bedrooms and three newly refurbished self-catering apartments. Eendracht Hotel and Apartments is a member of Cape Country Routes. Along with Adventure Shop, also a CCR member, Eendracht is offering Black Friday specials, including 50% discount on its Luxury and Southern rooms, from R575 per person sharing, including breakfast, valid until December 16, 2020.  Ts&Cs apply. For more information, call 021 883 8843, email [email protected], or click here.
