Belthazar is backĀ – with the spotlight on locals

BELTHAZAR, the celebrated “Theatre of Fine Food and Wine” at the V&A Waterfront, is back. On 1 November Belthazar will be reopening its doors, still on the Victoria Wharf in the vibrant heart of the Waterfront, but just one door down, adjacent to sister restaurant Gibsonā€™s on the seafront.Ā

Belthazar originally opened in 2003, offering a meat and seafood extravaganza, the largest wine-by-the-glass bar in the world, and panoramic views of the Waterfront and Table Mountain. Sadly, like so many restaurants, it closed its doors in 2020 due to Covid-19.

ā€œBelthazar is back with a twist,ā€ says co-owner Ian Halfon.Ā  ā€œWe want Belthazar to be the localsā€™ first choice when considering a grill. Retaining old favourites and our signature dishes will always be a focus. New and interesting additions will keep people curious and appeal to the locals.

“Good news is that we are launching a value al fresco lunch menu seven days a week, offering affordable value meals such as charcuterie, cheese boards, burgers, steak and seafood offerings, and wine tastings so everyone can enjoy our highly acclaimed wines. Our standard menu will also be available. Our meat experience is expanding to include top-quality, pristinely marbled Wagyu beef and aĀ  wider selection of steak cuts to offer broader affordability options.

“Locally and sustainably sourced fresh Cape fish, from the sea to your plate in record time, is also a priority. We are sourcing the latest award-winning wines as well as a bigger selection of well-priced house wines to accommodate all palates and pockets. Look out for regular exclusive deals for loyalty card holders as well as amazing winter value specials for the whole family.ā€

Belthazar continues to cater for a variety of functions including Christmas Lunch and New Yearā€™s Eve Dinner.
