THE Duchess Alcohol-Free Drinks and Castle-Free are bringing conscious consumers the perfect party-pack to kick-start a refreshing 2021. These two local brands are pioneers of the growing alcohol-free beverage category, with The Duchess creating several innovative, award-winning drinks and Castle Free leading the charge in South Africa’s alcohol-free beer category.
“Due to the global pandemic, consumers have become even more aware of the negative effects of excessive alcohol on their health. They are actively looking for alcohol alternatives which don’t compromise on taste or experience. Both The Duchess and Castle Free have created adult drinks which can be enjoyed at any occasion,” says Johannes le Roux, founder of The Duchess Alcohol-Free Drinks.
The Brew & Botanical alcohol-free party pack is launching exclusively at Checkers stores, through its website and on its Sixty60 app. The party pack comprises four bottles of The Duchess Alcohol-Free Gin & Tonic and four bottles of Castle-Free beers, retailing for R94.99.
The Duchess Botanical has aromatic layers of orange peel, cloves, cardamom, allspice and star anise and is enjoyed as a classic G&T, with a slice of citrus over ice. With the same local ingredients as its “mother brand”, Castle Lager, Castle Free is a thirst-quenching lager perfectly balanced with bitterness and astringency. Both drinks are delicious and refreshing without a drop of alcohol.
Le Roux explains: “In 2016, The Duchess pioneered the alcohol-free category in South Africa with the launch of the world’s first alcohol-free gin and tonic. To date, we have launched five innovative alcohol-free drinks that are exported all over the world. Last year we received backing from AB InBev, the world biggest brewer and owner of Castle Free.”
AB InBev’s initiative, Global Smart Drinking Goals, aims to foster a culture of smart drinking among consumers to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol. The partnership between these two South African alcohol-free brands hopes to encourage fans to support local brands and opt for safer and healthier options in 2021.
