Season 2 of House Of The Dragon on M-Net, Showmax from June 17

SEASON two of The HBO Original Drama Series House Of The Dragon debuts June 17 on M-Net and Showmax Express from the US. The eight-episode second season will be available on M-Net (DStv Channel 101) Express from the US at 3am on Monday 17 June and make its prime-time premiere at 9pm on the same day. The series will also be available on Showmax.

Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively. In conjunction with the release date announcement, HBO revealed duelling trailers for season two, and it’s really leaning into the rivalry between Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen that has fans divided down the middle. The two trailers show the perspectives of Team Green (those who support King Aegon and Alicent) and Team Black (those behind Queen Rhaenyra) as the two sides battle for control of the Iron Throne, and HBO is promoting the season with the slogan “All Must Choose”. A third video was also released, teasing the two trailers. That’s how big this show is; it needs trailers for its trailers.

The Emmy-winning first season was named Best TV Series – Drama at the 2023 Golden Globes and Best TV Series at Rotten Tomatoes’ Golden Tomato Awards for the best-reviewed show of 2022.

Based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood, House Of The Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. Following King Aegon’s coronation, Alicent and Rhaenyra cling to fading memories of their old friendship as their opposing factions gear up for civil war. Matt Smith is back in his Critics Choice-nominated role as Daemon Targaryen, as is D’Arcy in her Golden Globe-nominated role as Rhaenyra Targaryen and multi-award-winner Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower.

New cast this season includes BAFTA nominee Abubakar Salim (Father in Raised by Wolves) as Alyn of Hull and Gayle Rankin (Sheila the She-Wolf in GLOW) as Alys Rivers.

Pick your side of House Targaryen on your DStv Explora or stream it on Showmax, each week from 17 June. Visit the M-Net Website and join the conversation on XInstagram, TikTok and Facebook.
