IN a move that marks an exciting chapter in South African television, Chasing the Sun 2 – A Story for South Africa will feature in the Sunday night 8pm slot on M-Net (DStv Channel 101), traditionally reserved for blockbuster movies. The five-part documentary series, which premieres on 24 March 2024 on M-Net and SuperSport Grandstand, promises to be an unforgettable experience. It offers viewers front-row seats to never-before-seen footage of the Springboks’ awe-inspiring journey to their fourth Rugby World Cup victory – a historic first for any country in the world.

This expansive project was filmed across multiple countries including New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, and extensively throughout South Africa, detailing the Springboks’ global journey. With more than 56 shoot days, interviews with more than 30 players and coaches, insights from pundits and media figures, and combining over 60 hours of interview footage with 30-plus hours of match footage, this documentary series is in itself a story of human endeavour, leaving no stone unturned in unpacking the Springboks’ quest for glory.
