YES people – Rock On The Lawns in Cape Town and Joburg is only weeks away, and together with Amp Events I’m delighted to tell you we have two sets of double tickets for each event to give away.
The event features The Cure, along with a stellar local line up who will be playing 12 hours of music in Cape Town at Kenilworth Race Course on March 21, and at Carnival City in Jozi on March 16. Frankly, photographs of Robert Smith are a bit scary, in the Tim Burton/Helena Bonham Carter style but flip, I’ve loved their music since I was a wee lass and I’m pretty damn excited to see them live. Their catalogue spans more than four decades and includes hits like Friday I’m In Love, Just Like Heaven, Boys Don’t Cry, Lullaby and my all-time favourite, The Love Cats. If you don’t have ear worms right now, I’m sorry but we can’t be friends.
The rest of the line up includes Fokofpolisiekar, Ard Matthews, Karen Zoid, Zebra & Giraffe, Opposite The Other, Southern Wild, Hellcats, Diamond Thug, and The Robfather (DJ) who will be tying it all together.
Gates will open at 10.30am, and music from 11am (and doing the maths for those of us who are original fans will make us happy to calculate we’ll still be home and in bed with a nice cup of tea at a reasonable time). See the Facebook events here and here for more information.
Four lucky lucky Eat Play Drink Cape Town readers can each win a set of double tickets to the jol in their city. Check out my Facebook page here for details.
