Support Volunteer Wildfire Services at its 2019 Trail Challenge

VOLUNTEER WILDFIRE SERVICES is a non-profit organisation that relies entirely on donations to fight wildfires – and we’re heading into “fire season” any day now. Support their good work and sign up for the Nuweberg VWS Trail Challenge in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, just outside Grabouw, on Sunday, November 3.

The VWS Nuweberg Trail Challenge 2019 follows a successful inaugural event in November last year, and is designed to test the mettle of avid trail runners and causal runners (and walkers), as they traverse the the pristine trails along slopes of the Hottentots Holland mountains, and experience firsthand the wonder of the Fynbos which sustains our mountain water catchment areas. Challenge yourself with a 22km or 10km route in some of the most breathtaking vistas the Overberg region has to offer, beginning and ending at Cape Canopy Tour.

There will be prizes for first, second and third place for each race, for both male and female runners and a King and Queen of the Mountain for the 22km race. There will also be a number of spot prizes, for which all entrants will be eligible.

Should you not be able to participate, donations are welcome and would be greatly appreciated. You can buy a Volunteer Wildfire Services Proud Supporter buff to wear on the day (and at all your other races), and show your support for this cause.

Organised by Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS), all proceeds go towards the VWS, which is dedicated to the protection of biodiversity and the preservation of our mountain catchments and natural heritage. As an NPO, VWS receives no official or municipal funding, and all funds are used for operational and logistical expenses to fight wildfires. These funds are raised by volunteers, via donations or events such as this race.
