Two very special events at Steenberg this weekend

Laughter really is the best medicine so get your dose of local comedy and fresh air with the popular stand-up comedian, Alan Committie, on the lawns at Steenberg’s signature Tryn Restaurant on Thursday, April 8.

After a successful first show, Alan is back with another wacky hour long performance. Be sure to grab your picnic blanket and kick off your shoes for a starlit evening of laughs.

Tryn and Steenberg’s Bistro Sixteen82 will be hosting early dinners and will have you in and out before the show begins. If you prefer something less formal, Tryn’s pre-ordered Al Fresco boxes and Relaxed Menu are the perfect treat to enjoy on the lawns.

Chef Kerry Kilpin’s trademark Al Fresco boxes are filled with a medley of sweet and savoury treasures. The Relaxed Menu includes classic calamari and chips, and sirloin ciabatta – perfect to snack on while you enjoy the show. Guests are not permitted to bring their own food or drinks.

The show begins at 7.30pm and a limited number of tickets are available at R200 per person. For your comfort, bring along your own chairs, cushions and blankets. Book or enquire via email [email protected] or call 021 713 7178.

The following evening, Friday, April 9, Constantia Fresh rolls out the red carpet for a top tier Fine Wine Dinner at Tryn.

The event is one of five dinners, all on one night, in celebration of the finest cuisine and wines of the Constantia Valley. Each restaurant has created a luxurious four-course dinner expertly paired with the best wines from Constantia’s top producers.

To get the evening started Kilpin will fire up your taste buds with her famous beef tataki canapés. Her formal menu includes two delicious fish courses – a vibrant tartare with prawn and edamame, and her trademark sustainable fish with green asparagus salsa – followed by the main course of succulent grilled beef fillet. Known for her mouth-watering desserts, Kilpin’s devilishly good chocolate marquise and famed chocolate truffles promise the sweetest farewell. Each of these culinary gems will be paired with a top notch wine from the region’s best cellars including Steenberg’s own Semillon and Pinot Noir Cap Classique.

Tickets at R1 400 per person, including the wines, coffee and gratuity, are available here.
