The Six Gun Braai Festival/Fees has got your back for Braai Day in the city

by Bianca Coleman 17 Sep 2019

GOURMET braai food – including vegetarian, vegan and Halaal options – will be on offer at this day-into-night festival at Fort Wynyard in Granger Bay on Tuesday, September 24.

Besides the treats from the fires, there will be live entertainment, craft beer, wine tasting, a braai competition, 360 deg views of the Mother City, bunker tours, and children’s entertainment. If you still want to click those tongs yourself, communal braai drums and grids will be available; braai food, Six Gun Grill seasoning, Jimmy’s Sauces, charcoal and more will be available to buy on site.

And if you think your braai skills are better than anyone else’s (don’t we all?), sign up for the competition: to secure your spot, email thelocalfoodtruckmarket@gmail.com with your team name. You can also enter when you get there, but space is limited so first come, first served, so don’t be that Capetonian. Throughout the day, judges will walk around the venue tasting all contestants’ prepared braai food. Fun fact: I was invited to bring a team, but not to be a judge…which sounds like a far better job.

Once the votes are tallied up, the Six Gun Grill Braai Champions will be crowned. The prize includes a Six Gun Grill and Jimmy’s Sauces hamper, a case of Newlands Spring Brewing Co. & a case of Schweppes South Africa.

The festival will be at Fort Wynyard, corner Granger Bay Boulevard & Fort Wynyard Road, Green Point, Cape Town (The Fort Food Truck Market) from 12pm till 10pm. Bands play from noon till 6pm, and DJs thereafter.

Tickets, from R60 early bird to R100 are through Webtickets or any Pick n Pay store nationwide or by clicking here. It will be R120 at the door if still available. Children under 13 enter for free, and furkids are welcome. Please keep both under control.
