MAKE your way to the Terra del Capo Antipasti bar at Anthonij Rupert Estate, in the picturesque Franschhoek wine valley for the mini winelands escape you have been craving.

Visitors can enjoy bespoke wine tastings and freshly prepared Italian-inspired fare in this magnificent setting. Al fresco dining in the lush garden under the shade of old olive trees is a must on beautiful days. There’s a cosy fire inside for what remains of winter.

The seasonally inspired menu includes a variety of contemporary and traditional antipasti plates.  With the estate now producing its own award-winning olive oil, honey, Black Angus beef and receiving Black Perigord truffles from its Altima Estate, the menu is inspired, more than ever not only by local winelands produce, but also by these hyper local gourmet ingredients.

With the truffle harvest brought in successfully over the past few months, and further product development now complete, guests can expect to be delighted with truffle inspired dishes, such as homemade truffle tagliatelle dressed in aged Parmesan cream. For a lighter meal, guests can opt for a platter of expertly sourced charcuterie and artisanal cheeses or one of the delightful vegetarian options such as the Sicilian panelle (chickpea fritters) with chargrilled zucchini and olives, or a zingy and delicious green bean and citrus salad served with aged balsamic vinegar.

Before heading home, browse the selection of bespoke homeware and décor items. With the upcoming festive season just around the corner, the shop will be fully stocked with unique gifts, custom designed and created by local suppliers and artisans, as well as a range of imported quality Italian must-haves.

The Terra del Capo Tasting Room and Antipasti Bar are open Tuesdays to Sundays (10am to 4.30pm) and visits to the estate and its facilities are by appointment only.
