LADLES OF LOVE, a non-profit soup kitchen and feeding scheme serving various Cape Town communities, is hosting a Gin High Tea fundraiser at The Yard, in the Silo District at V&A Waterfront on April 28, from 4pm till 6pm.

Your ticket price of R250 will pay for 25 meals for a person in need, and will give you not only a warm fuzzy feeling but you’ll get a whole lot of delicious goodies as well as live entertainment for your bucks. All ticket sales and event proceeds will go straight to Ladles Of Love Foundation.

Enjoy a delicious Jonni Gin & Tonic on arrival and a sensational selection of sweet and savoury canapés. This plus a selection of fine teas by KA PA TÉE to sample, Spice Route wine tastings, cappuccinos from Ella Cappuccino, and each guest gets a Happy Culture Kombucha as well.

Live music and entertainment will be provided too, by Jeremy Olivier and Odwa Bongo, and Leigh-Anne Williams is the MC. A prize draw is the cherry on the top.

“We’ve been running for almost five years now, and just had our biggest year ever with over 100,000 meals served,” says Margolite Williams from Ladles Of Love.

“We’re currently preparing and serving in excess of 2000 meals per week – our recipients are vulnerable, disadvantaged people around Cape Town – and the demand is growing. We serve the homeless community at three weekly pop-up kitchens and we also run a feeding scheme which is currently operating in four struggling primary schools.

“In addition to these kitchens and schemes that we operate ourselves, we also cook and provide food for other organisations to distribute.”
