TOKARA’s forward thinking vision for Cabernet Sauvignon over more than 20 vintages, has seen its vineyards on the foothills of the Simonsberg consistently produce exceptional, award winning wines.

The latest release from this family owned Stellenbosch wine estate, Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, is no exception. The wine won international acclaim with a gold medal at the 2020 Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge, the annual tasting of one of the definitive wine guides in France.

A blend of the diverse vineyard sites on the estate, it is the quintessential expression of Tokara terroir.

“Cabernet Sauvignon is Tokara’s original focus variety and our Stellenbosch vineyards produce three singular expressions, a blend of different Cabernet Sauvignon sites on the Tokara farm, a Reserve single vineyard wine and a pinnacle cuvée. These wines are true renditions of their terroirand everything our estate stands for – refinement, elegance and balance,” says winemaker Stuart Botha.

The 2017 vintage has inviting dried cranberry, red currant and subtle cassis aromas with whiffs of dried herbs and tobacco spice. Expect a mouthful of sweet berries interwoven with spice and light toasty notes imparted during barrel maturation. It is most enjoyable on its own and the perfect winter foil with grilled veal chops, meaty stews and a perfectly grilled steak.

Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 has a cellar door price of R125 per bottle and is available at the tasting room and leading stores countrywide. For online purchases, click here.
