WIJN boutique wine bar and online shop has expanded its wine bar experience to also reach your home, with its latest innovative product, Wonderwijn. At Wijn you have the opportunity to discover, taste and enjoy hard-to-come-by artisanal wines, and hear the stories behind them directly from the winemakers.
Here, you pour wine in your own time from premium wine dispensers allowing you to just taste, try half a glass, or go all-out with a full glass of your favourite. No wine menu is ever the same, allowing you to sample new wines every month and buy them to take home with you at cellar door prices.
Wijn has now taken its wine bar experience on the road and into your home, with the launch of Wonderwijn. Upon opening the lid of a premium black box, you will find a curated selection of four artisanal wines, bottled in 200ml sleek, matte black bottles with no labels, and securely sealed with gold wax. Each bottle contains two glasses of wine –just enough for you and a partner to share your own Wijn Bar experience, at home.
You will also find a brief description of each wine in your Wonderwijn pack. Scan the QR code and you will see a short video by the winemaker about the wine. If you love the wine, and would like to buy a bigger bottle, you can order online and have it delivered to your door. A professionally shot virtual tasting, hosted by the winemaker(s) accompanies each Wonderwijn selection and allows the guest to truly immerse themselves in their journey.
“The concept is simple. It’s like having a wine bar delivered to your door. Many people would like to discover new and interesting wines but buying a bottle may be too much and unless you have access to a wine bar that stocks these wines, there is no way to drink the wines before buying them,” says Wijn co-founder, Sarette van den Heever. “When you get involved in the trade side of the wine industry, a whole world of tasting new and interesting wines open up. We have opened up this world to our customers at Wijn. Now everyone can experience it with Wonderwijn, no matter where you find yourself.”
For the first Wonderwijn offering, you can expect wines from the likes of The Ahrens Family, Thistle & Weed, Kat se Snor, Paserene, De Kleine Wijn Koöp and many more. You can choose to subscribe to Wonderwijn for R350 per month and receive a new selection of four wines every month; or you can buy the standalone Wonderwijn packs, ranging from R395 to R550 per pack, depending on the wines included in the selection. Wonderwijn subscribers will also receive a 10% discount on all 750ml bottles of wine bought.
