A celebration of exquisite Simonsberg red blends

0

BEING located between Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch, not everyone knows Simonsberg-Paarl is a wine region in its own right. The area makes some of the country’s most distinctive red blends with a distinct style, using predominantly Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Simonsberg Wine Assembly, taking place at Vrede en Lust on September 2, will give you the opportunity to explore the finest reds from 11 top producers, paired with local cheeses from Dalewood Fromage, Richard Bosman’s Quality Cured Meats, and artisanal breads by renowned chef Cass Zulch from Lust Bistro at Vrede en Lust. I’m booked and looking forward to it. Those there are some of my favourite things, all in one place, most fortunate.

The purpose of the Simonsberg Wine Assembly is to bring together neighbouring wineries of the region to highlight the abundance of quality red blends found in this small wine ward. Known for its exceptional terroir, the Simonsberg is home to internationally recognised estates and award winning cellars. Use the occasion to taste and enjoy a diverse range of wines and learn about each directly from the winemaker.
