M-NET will present Cold Blood: The Violent Crime Cases of Mike Bolhuis, a gripping four-part true crime docuseries. Premiering on Thursday, 11 May, the series follows Specialist Investigator Mike Bolhuis, as he explores one of the most notorious cold cases in South Africa.

The lifeless body of Yolandi Botes, a mother of three, was found in the Vaal River by a grandfather and his grandson on 4 May 2021 after she had been reported missing on 26 April 2021. As her body was dismembered, her only way to be identified was by a tattoo on her forearm: Wietzue 11.09.2019, the date of her wedding, and her husband’s name.

Two years after Yolandi’s death, we still don’t know who killed her or what happened on that day. This hard-hitting investigation series follows Mike Bolhuis’ relentless pursuit of a person or individuals still on the loose.

“My daily experiences fighting crime in this country are often shocking, and the cases I see are often horrifying. Nevertheless, the murder of Yolandi Botes is one of the most notable in my experience. Re-investigating was necessary to ensure that all evidence is considered to bring the guilty to justice and closure for Yolandi’s family,” says lead investigator, Mike Bolhuis.

Produced for M-Net by Provoco, Cold Blood: The Violent Crime Cases of Mike Bolhuis executive producer Rian van Heerden says: “It is not easy to forget a story like Yolandi’s. It is impossible to comprehend how someone could murder and discard a fellow human being in such a brutal way, but how has almost no information come to light during the past two years? Yolandi’s closest family and friends are desperate for answers. Hopefully, this series will bring the truth closer.”

The docuseries will be available on DStv Premium on M-Net (Channel 101) every Thursday at 10pm from 11 May, as well as live-streamed on the DStv App, and available on DStv Catch Up after broadcast.
