Women-inspired market at Steenberg

0

IN the spirit of Catherina Ras, the first landowner of Steenberg in 1682, a market will be held at Steenberg on October 29 from 10am, to support and celebrate female entrepreneurs.

Thirty small business owners will be showcasing their handcrafted, artisanal goods. A range of specialty items, from jewellery, home decor, stationery and design that will wow at your dinner parties, to printed fabrics and the latest leisure trends, will be available to buy on the day and inspire ideas for your bespoke orders later on.

Beanies Night Owl Knitters was started to help single mothers supplement their domestic worker income to support their children. Using hand-dyed kid mohair yarn, these local ladies are knitting and crocheting incredible products (@nightowlknitters).

Jay Smith Collection has a range of kitchen and dining textiles including aprons, runners, and tablecloths. All locally designed and manufactured, the fun and floral patterns are great talking pieces.

Tryn and Bistro Sixteen82 will be offering dishes like seared beef and sesame ginger salad, sticky pork or Jackfruit bao buns, truffle and parmesan fries, and chef Kerry Kilpin’s popular paprika-dusted calamari with garlic aioli. There will also be plenty of sweet treats to tempt you.

Come and spend a relaxing afternoon browsing, lounging on blankets and tasting the world-renowned wines. Singer/songwriter Dani Villé will be entertaining visitors with her interpretation of popular covers and her own original music. All Covid-19 protocols will be adhered to.
