Spring is in the air at the De Krans Blossom Festival in Calitzdorp

by Press Release 20 Aug 2019
by Press Release 20 Aug 2019

SAVE the date for De Krans Wine Cellar’s annual popular Blossom Festival, which takes place on Saturday, August 31. De Krans Wine Cellar is in Calitzdorp, in the heart of the Klein Karoo and world famous Route 62. The beautiful spring blossoms symbolise the beginning of a new year for the fruit and wine industry in Calitzdorp, and it is also the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to winter.

The 2019 festival promises to be a wonderful event, with plenty to do for all visitors. This year’s fun run/fun walk (five or 10km) will take place through the orchards in full bloom and the vineyards of De Krans. The entry fee will be R20 per person, or more if you want to make an extra donation to the farm’s charity of choice, Friends of Calitzdorp Animals, which will receive all entry fees and donations made on the day. Starting time is 10am. Pre-enter by submitting an email to dekrans@mweb.co.za, or enter on the day from 9am at De Krans. Don’t forget your camera to take pictures of the spectacular blossoms on the apricot and peach trees along the route.

From 11am, Matt Hatters will get the feet tapping with their live music performance. With their sounds in the background, use the opportunity to taste 20 different award-winning wines from De Krans, including the 2019 Chenin Blanc, Pinotage Rosé and Moscato. The bistro will be ready to serve excellent meals and the deli will offer a variety of tasty produce made in the region. It will also serve two cocktails made from De Krans wines. It is recommended to book your table well in advance.

For bookings or more information on De Krans and its wines, bistro & deli, click here, or call 044 213 3314/64.
