City Sightseeing launches Inner City & Bo-Kaap historical tour 

CITY Sightseeing Cape Town has launched of Urban Xplorer, a new inner-city experience officially kicking off on Heritage Day, 24 September 2026.

Urban Xplorer offers a fresh way to discover Cape Town, designed for travellers who want to go beyond postcard views and connect with the real stories, people and places that shape the city. Blending history, culture and community, Urban Xplorer will reveal the rich layers of Cape Town’s heritage. Highlights include driving past Greenmarket Square, the Company’s Garden, the Castle of Good Hope, City Hall, the District Six Museum and more.

“Urban Xplorer is not just about sightseeing; it’s about uncovering the soul of Cape Town,” said David Henwood, CMO of City Sightseeing Cape Town. “Launching on Heritage Day during Tourism Month is the perfect moment to showcase our city’s diverse cultures, communities and stories in a way that is authentic, engaging and exciting.”

Urban Xplorer includes one hour on board with a live English-speaking guide, who brings the inner city alive with personal narratives, cultural insights and historical context that reveal new dimensions of Cape Town’s complex and diverse heritage. This is followed by a 30-minute guided walk in Bo-Kaap, giving guests the chance to explore one of the city’s most iconic neighbourhoods on foot.
