CAPE TOWN’S favourite outdoor cinema welcomes movie goers back to The Galileo Open Air Cinema for a 10th season this summer, with more than 100 movie screenings set in some of most picturesque and exclusive locations across Cape Town and the Cape winelands.
Season 10 will begin on October 21, 2021 until April 24, 2022, showcasing a series of blockbuster hits, from family favourites to heart-warming romcoms, upbeat comedies, adored musicals and more, promising something for everyone. Experience the new Royale cinema picnic option, an exclusive screening available at alternating venues – Radisson Blu Waterfront and Beau Constantia Wine Estate – on the first Wednesday of each month, adding a touch of sophistication to your week.
Thursdays and Sundays are reserved for the much-loved, magnificent Kirstenbosch Gardens, The Galileo picnic venue loved by all. Fridays offer outdoor movie fans the chance to explore the city a little more, with rotating city venue favourites like Battery Park V&A Waterfront, Central Park in Century City and Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville.
Saturdays are for wine farms and this season, The Galileo will be hosted at a selection prestigious estates across Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. See the movie schedule for more info and combine your Saturday plans with a favourite flick and a new farm to tick off the list.
The Galileo summer picnic series offers the perfect setting for a memorable evening with friends, a romantic date night, a fun birthday bash, team ‘end-of-year ‘party, as well as the ideal quality-time family outing. Doors open at 6pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and 5pm on Saturdays. The movie begins as soon as the sun sets. Arrive early, find your spot on the lawn and enjoy pre-movie al fresco dining while supporting local with various artisanal food offerings from the on-site vendors.
