Tasty WasteNOTS, which was published in 2016, has been awarded as the Best in the World Cookbook at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Co-authored by nutritional therapist, author, journalist and speaker Sally-Ann Creed and renowned South African chef, presenter and culinary consultant Jason Whitehead, the cookbook focuses on using whole, organic foods that are preferably home-grown and each recipe includes nutritional facts about the main ingredient. In addition lunches and suppers can be paired with superb organic wines by Stellar Winery.

Comments Whitehead: “The fact that we won Most Innovative Cookbook in South Africa was thrilling enough, and now that we get to call it ‘The Best In The World’ is just too awesome for words! Sally-Ann and I put a lot of thought and energy into Tasty WasteNOTS and it feels like it is all paying off. I truly believe in the nose-to-tail approach to eating and wasting as little as possible, and now that our book is being globally recognised, it is such an honour.”

Creed adds: “This prestigious, coveted award is a privilege for us both – teaching others how to make otherwise ‘throwaway’ parts of food into nourishing, delicious meals is something everyone should be doing to reduce waste. There is something for everyone in Tasty WasteNOTS – be it recipes, gardening or nutritional information. We love our book and are thrilled the judges did too!”

The 224-page soft cover book, published by NB Publishers, can be purchased online via www.Takealot.com, www.Loot.co.za, www.Raru.co.za, www.Graffitibooks.co.za as well as www.jasonwhitehead.co.za or [email protected] and at all good bookstores.
