Let’s Easter at The Nellie

EASTER is a time for friends and families to come together and celebrate a long, relaxing weekend in the warm autumn sunshine. At Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town, the leafy grounds are turning every shade of crimson, ochre and gold. Make the most of their glories with gourmet picnics, live music and the all-important Easter Egg hunt.

Chef Rudi has created an array of menus to satisfy the most epicurean of palates. Bask in the mild weather with a fabulous Easter picnic set out in the gardens, and linger over charcuterie, smoked trout, Cape Winelands cheeses and spice fried chicken, as your hungry children tuck into beef frikkadels, macaroni cheese bites and fresh fruit kebabs.

The Nellie’s famous Sunday jazz brunch has been given an Easter twist. Hunt out special treats among the sumptuous bounty, such as pickled fish, pierogis and Angry Pudding (hot cross bun and butter pudding with chocolate) all to the cool sounds of the Buddy Wells Jazz Trio.

Easter Afternoon Tea, served from Friday 15th through to Monday 18th April is chock-full of irresistible foodie moments. Homemade bonbons are infused with hot cross bun-spiced white chocolate ganache filling. Lemon meringue eclairs melt in the mouth. Scotch eggs, devilled eggs and little nuggets of fried kingklip in sweet and sour sauce will make savoury fans swoon. A vegan spread tempts with hummus-filled profiteroles, spiced coconut doughnuts and pecan nut tart.

The much anticipated Easter Egg Hunt in the hotel’s expansive gardens is a firm favourite for children of all ages, and will be offered to all our young visitors over the weekend, whether they are picnicking, brunching or enjoying afternoon tea.

Whether you choose to be inside or out, relaxed or active, you can be sure of one thing: it promises to be an eggs-traordinary Easter. For further enquiries or to make a booking, call +27 21 483-1000 and ask for restaurant reservations or e-mail [email protected]
