A taste of heritage: beyond’s elevated braai experience


EMBARK on a culinary journey this Heritage Day weekend at beyond restaurant, the country counterpart to FYN’s urban refinement. Set within the scenic and historic Buitenverwachting Estate, established in 1796, beyond presents a celebration of this cherished annual occasion. A first for the restaurant, beyond will be unveiling a full tasting menu inspired by the flavourful traditions of the South African braai.

beyond transcends the mere label of a restaurant; it epitomises the union between our rich South African heritage and diverse landscape, with global culinary mastery and advanced gastronomic techniques. Each meticulously crafted dish is paired with the finest selection of wines from the Western Cape. For Heritage Day, the team is re-imagining South Africa’s favourite braai flavours, blending them seamlessly with the elevated standards of fine dining to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Head chef Sebastian Stehr shares his excitement: “I am thrilled to take South African classics, the beloved dishes we gather around with friends and family, and transform them into unique culinary creations. Each dish resonates with the flavours and memories shared by the fireside, yet provides for elevated dining.”

The Heritage Day Menu will be available for lunch and dinner on Saturday, September 23 and for lunch on Sunday, September 24.
