ON Friday 26 April, Sauvignon Blanc South Africa will host an Austrian Sauvignon Blanc Feast in celebration of International Sauvignon Blanc Day, at Kleine Zalze Vineyards in Stellenbosch, from 5pm until 7.30pm.

Guests can look forward to tasting Sauvignon Blanc from the acclaimed Südsteiermark and beyond, including winners from the 2023 Sauvignon Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) competition which was hosted in South Africa in March last year. From 1 210 entries from across the globe, Austria took top honours in this competition, winning 85 medals as well as the Dubourdieu Trophy for the best Sauvignon Blanc overall.

“Austria is known for producing outstanding wines and Styrian Sauvignon Blanc is acclaimed as some of the best in the world,” says RJ Botha, Kleine Zalze cellar master and chairperson of Sauvignon Blanc SA.

Five food stands will feature chef Nic van Wyk’s take on authentic cuisine from the culinary heart of central Europe, with wiener schnitzel, käsespätzle, gröstl, brettljause and apfelstrudel on the menu. Live music by renowned musician Wilken Calitz promises an entertaining evening.
