Produced on the verdant outskirts of the picturesque town of Robertson, Paul René MCC is a family-owned winery dedicated to producing exceptional sparkling wines using time-honoured methods and meticulously selected grapes. This includes three exceptional varietals.
- Paul René Brut
Paul René Brut is made from hand-picked Chardonnay grapes from rich limestone soil vineyards. Slowly whole-bunch pressed, and aged on the lees for 44 months, this vintage benefits from secondary fermentation in the bottle, as well as manual riddling and disgorgement. The result is a rich, deeply flavoured bubbly boasting notes of citrus blossom and nougat, with a bright limestone acidity that holds this svelte wine taut, leading to creamy, bready notes on the finish.
- Paul René Brut Rosé
Paul René Brut Rosé is crafted from hand-picked Pinot Noir (75%) and Chardonnay (25%) grapes from a vineyard in the Robertson Valley. Slowly whole-bunch pressed, and aged on the lees for 44 months, this vintage benefits from secondary fermentation in the bottle, as well as manual riddling and disgorgement. The result is a wine the colour of an early spring sunrise, with upfront fine spice and green notes. It has exceptional balance and opens onto the palate with expansive cherry and almond notes, ending most alluringly on a lingering grapefruit stanza.
- Paul René Nectar
The latest addition to the Paul René family, our Paul René Nectar is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All the berries are lovingly picked by hand, whole-bunch pressed, and aged on the lees for 30 months. This results in a subtle and sweeter bubble, infused with flavours of toffee apple, rose petals and caramel. The extra time on the lees gives Paul René Nectar a lovely complexity and richness, with a lingering honey-kissed finish.
