LUXURY gin brand Inverroche has taken top honours at the World Travel Awards with recognition as Africa’s Leading Distillery Tour 2025 – the second consecutive year that the distillery, located in the Southern Cape village of Stilbaai, has won the category at these prestigious awards.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Winners are selected through a rigorous voting process involving both industry professionals and the general public, ensuring that only the best are recognised.
“This accolade builds on the strong worldwide momentum behind the brand resulting from its acquisition by global wine and spirits group Pernod Ricard, which has recently introduced Inverroche in new markets including Nigeria and Angola, where it is seeing strong uptake among consumers. Inverroche is now available in 25 markets around the world,” said Inverroche managing director Garth Watson.
“This award is an important milestone in realising our ambition to make Inverroche Africa’s first global luxury spirit brand.”
Visitors to the Inverroche brand home can look forward to a guided tour starting in the distillery museum, where they will learn about the origins of the unique infusions of indigenous fynbos that give this gin its exceptional character. Inverroche founder and resident of Stillbaai Lorna Scott pioneered the use of the area’s indigenous fynbos to infuse traditional gin botanicals more than 12 years ago.
The museum visit is followed by an immersive experience in the Still Room which showcases the process of creating and producing Inverroche’s unique luxurious gins, and delves into the significance of fynbos, distillation and the hand‑crafted bottling process. The tour concludes in the private tasting room, with a sampling of gins paired with bespoke chocolates or local artisanal cheeses, presented by an Inverroche gin host.
