From Devon Valley with love: Redamancy Vineyards earns international gold

JUST five years after releasing its first wines, Redamancy Vineyards is making its mark on South Africa’s premium wine landscape.

The Devon Valley producer received two gold medals at the 2026 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for its Brave Chardonnay 2024 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2021. The Brave Chardonnay also achieved 96 points at the Fine Wine Awards of American Express, the highest score awarded to a Chardonnay.

For founders Antoinette Rapitsi and Marc Van Uytvanck (pictured above), the recognition marks an important milestone in a journey that began before Redamancy’s first bottle was released in 2022.

Around 2010, the couple began returning to Stellenbosch, drawn by its landscape and way of life. When a Devon Valley property came onto the market in 2015, their vision of vineyards and life closer to the land found its home.

They named it Redamancy, pronounced RED-uh-man-see, from the classical Latin for reciprocal love: loving and being loved in return.

“We never set out simply to collect medals. We wanted to make wines we genuinely love to drink, with structure, balance, and a sense of place. To see them recognised internationally so early gives us enormous confidence in what we are building,” says Antoinette.

Brave Chardonnay has become a signature wine, with the 2024 vintage showing citrus, stone fruit, freshness, and restrained oak. The 2023 vintage earned 93 points and Silver at the IWSC, and 91 points from Tim Atkin.

The collection includes Brave Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pet-Nat, with Cabernet Franc and MC Blanc de Blanc in production.

Redamancy focuses on premium wine, minimal intervention, and respect for the environment, while supporting meaningful employment and stronger livelihoods. “We believe pleasure and responsibility can sit comfortably together,” says Marc. “The wine has to be beautiful in the glass, but how it gets there matters too.”

For Redamancy, the awards are recognition, not the destination. The ambition remains simple: wines with integrity, personality, and a place at the table.
