SOUTH AFRICANS’ appetite for source-of-protein foods shows no sign of slowing and Woolworths is now offering yoghurt lovers a new way to add a source of protein to their day, with the launch of its full cream and low fat Greek-style yoghurt ranges.
But don’t let the name fool you. While any yoghurt produced outside Greece must technically be called Greek-Style, Woolies’ new range is made with Greek cultures from Athens, and its a first for th brand: a Greek style core yoghurt range made with just three ingredients – milk, cultures and protein.
Every yoghurt in the Greek-Styled range contains a minimum of 5g of protein per 100g and is made using rBST hormone-free milk. Woolies has added millions of live bifidobacterium cultures to the yoghurt. These cultures, when consumed as a regular part of a balanced diet, contribute to a healthy digestive system.
“Protein has become an increasingly important part of how our customers think about the foods they choose but we know they’re also looking for great taste, quality ingredients and products that fit easily into their lives,” says Woolworths product developer Yumna Seedat. “With this Greek-style full cream and low fat range, we wanted to bring all of that together in a yoghurt that is thick and creamy, made with Greek cultures and has a simple ingredient list. It’s a product we’re really proud to bring to our customers.”
For those looking for a more traditional “Greek yoghurt” experience, Woolworths has also introduced a strained range made using the straining process, where the whey is removed to create its signature thick texture.
The full Greek-Style range includes low fat, full cream and double cream plain varieties in a selection of sizes, alongside an exciting addition of Greek-Style strained double cream honey, with a fat free version being added to the range soon.
Whether spooned over granola, blended into smoothies, used to add creaminess to cooking or simply enjoyed straight from the tub, Woolies’ new Greek-style full-cream and low-fat yoghurt range makes it easy to add a source of protein into your life, with the thick, creamy texture yoghurt lovers are looking for.
