DIGGSTOWN, which first aired on Thursday, August 19 at 8pm, follows Marcie Diggs (Vinessa Antoine, above), a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities after her beloved aunt commits suicide following a malicious prosecution.

The team of lawyers that Marcie works with are a curious band of do-gooders, cynics and scrappers – messy souls struggling to keep personal disappointment and demons out of their practice. They work directly in the community to find justice for their diverse clients, exploring issues of racism, poverty and gender bias.

Antoine has starred in multiple television shows including Being Erica, Haven, Heartland, NCIS, Lucky 7 and General Hospital. In addition, she has been on stage in several Off-Broadway plays in New York, including the original New York cast of Four. Joining Antoine is Natasha Henstridge (Species), C David Johnson (Street Legal), Stacey Farber (Grace and Frankie), Brandon Oakes (Arctic Air), Shailene Garnett (Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments), Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp) and Dwain Murphy (Titans).

Family Law, which began on Monday, August 23 at 8pm, follows lawyer and recovering alcoholic Abigail “Abby” Bianchi, who is struggling to put her career and family back together after hitting rock bottom. As a condition of her probation, Abby is forced to work at her estranged father’s firm and practise family law for the first time, alongside the half-brother and half-sister she’s never met. As Abby likes to joke, it’s one dysfunctional family helping other dysfunctional families.

Abby is played by Gemini Award nominated and Leo Award winning actress Jewel Staite (above). Staite is best known for her work as Kaylee in cult classic series Firefly, as well as the feature film adaptation Serenity. Most recently, she was seen on hit series The Good Doctor, Blindspot, The Magicians and Legends of Tomorrow.

The also includes Victor Garber (Titanic), Zach Smadu (The Expanse), Genelle Williams (Spiral), Lauren Holly (Designated Survivor), Luke Camilleri (A Series of Unfortunate Events), Bobbi Charlton (The Magicians), Brett Kelly (Bad Santa), Eden Summer Gilmore (Riverdale), Brendan Sunderland (Supernatural), Yvonne Chapman (Street Legal), Ali Liebert (Legends of Tomorrow) and Kelly Ogmunson (Cavendish).

Both series are on Universal TV, DStv channel 117. @UniversalTVSA (Facebook & Twitter)
