Savour the quintessential pairing at Stellenbosch Hills

THE fun returns to Stellenbosch Hills this month with a delicious opportunity to savour two ageless companions. The popular Stellenbosch Hills Wine & Cheese Pairing is a chance to gather up friends and family for a light-hearted and tasty excursion to the heart of South African wine country.

Over the years, its Wine & Cheese Pairing has become a popular activity and this year promises to be the same, with the tastings launched this month and running until October. The four wines and highly-rated artisanal cheeses from Stanford-based producer, Stonehouse on offer in the tasting room are:

  • Stellenbosch Hills’ award-winning Sauvignon Blanc whose lively acidity and burst of fruit marry with the semi-soft cheese’s garlic-and-chives seasoning;
  • The winery’s bold Shiraz, with its spice and dark berry traits, that meets a semi-soft cheese with Cajun character;
  • A glass of Cabernet Sauvignon – the most awarded variety for the Stellenbosch region – is elevated even further by the Italian herbs that flavour the semi-soft cheese served alongside it; and,
  • The winery’s own Muscat de Hambourg, a magnificent dessert wine that is not only the perfect round-off to any dinner, but also to this series where it is served with a creamy Camembert.

The winery has a long and proud history of producing an excellent portfolio, from serious collectors’ items to the Polkadraai everyday range of good-humoured wines. It has made a speciality of pairing experiences which include such innovations as wine with biltong and even popcorn.

The Stellenbosch Hills Wine & Cheese Pairing is just R95 per person and must be booked ahead of your visit.
