IF you’re after some good vibes and fun in the sun for the whole family this Easter weekend (except Good Friday on 15 April), make your way to The Manor at the Nederburg farm, set against the imposing Drakenstein Mountains near Paarl.

Soak up the last bit of summer sunshine while creating special memories with the historic 1800 manor house as backdrop. There will be picnics, an Easter bunny, egg hunts and lawn games for adults and kids, a jumping castle and jungle gym (for the little ones), live music, as well as fine wines and delicious food served fresh from The Manor’s kitchen.

Egg hunts are scheduled for the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the long-weekend, at 10am for children (R30 fee, including an Easter treat, and one winner receiving a chocolate hamper), and at 11am for adults (R50 fee, including a glass of bubbly). Participating adults stand the chance to win a variety of Nederburg wines, picnic as well as tasting vouchers and in the case of children, an array of tasty treats. Nederburg’s Easter bunny will be there to surprise and delight the little ones and pose with them for pictures.

A wide range of Nederburg’s delicious wines will be available.  These can be enjoyed with scrumptious fare on the blackboard special menu, including grilled pickled fish sosaties, served with fragrant rice and homemade chutney, braised beef shin with smoked mashed potatoes, peppered green beans and a rich red wine jus. The team will also be offering an Easter bread service with favourites such as hot-cross buns, mini vetkoeke, pâtés and preserves. Dishes on The Manor’s à la carte menu will also be available to order.

If chilling on the lawn is more your style, opt for a picnic. At R540, Nederburg’s awesome picnic basket serves two adults. It features all your picnic needs such as crockery, cutlery, glasses, napkins, a blanket and pillows, as well as cheeses and charcuterie, fresh fruit, fresh breads and crackers, lamb frikadelle, roasted vegetable skewers, sticky chicken wings, salads and a sweet bite. It also includes a bottle of Nederburg’s Première Cuvée Brut or a bottle of any wine from its The Winemasters collection.  Soft drinks, waters, beers, ciders and hot beverages are available to order. Kids’ picnic baskets are also on offer, at R120 per head. Each include a mini beef burger, dried fruit and raisins, fresh seasonal fruit, a small juice box and a mini dessert.

Picnics need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance by contacting the team at The Manor on 021 877 5155 or [email protected]
