LOXTONIA, the family owned cidery in the Ceres Valley, has released its award winning Méthode Traditionelle Cider, crowned overall champion at the 11th International Cider Challenge, just in time for the festive season.
Loxtonia Blush Méthode Traditionelle Cider (MTC), one of Loxtonia’s first two bubbly-style apple ciders, was named Supreme Champion for 2021 and won the Rosé Trophy at the prestigious London based competition. Completing the MTC pigeon pair, is the ultra-dry Loxtonia Brut.
Both MTCs are made in the slow, traditional French way of bottle fermentation to create the vibrant sparkle. Stylishly presented in classic sparkling wine bottles, they owe their complexity to bottle ageing for 15 months on the lees.
Loxtonia Brut is a honey-coloured MTC that exudes a profusion of fine bubbles, apple brulée, vanilla and roasted plum. Rich and complex, it is deliciously dry with a persistent finish and all the complexity of 15 months’ bottle ageing.
Created initially as a secret wedding gift for his daughter, Alexandra, by Loxtonia founder and chief cider maker, Larry Whitfield, international recognition has inspired the family to take their remarkable MTC project to the next level.
Wow your family and friends with these unique and beautifully presented limited release Loxtonia MTCs this festive season. Crisp and delicious, they are perfect for summer sipping and toasting in the New Year. Loxtonia Brut MTC sells at R235 a bottle while the pink-hued, award winning Loxtonia Blush MTC is R350; buy online.
